Chain Story

Create a story . Choose one of the other "Beginning Sentences." Each student in the group should write a paragraph to add to the story. The story can continue around the circle until it is time to conclude. For example, beginning Sentences:

1. One night, during a fierce thunderstorm, all of the lights went out in town.
2. Tom Wilson received a telegram that delivered some surprising news. 3. We were driving down a lonely country road when our car suddenly broke down miles from any town or farmhouse.
4. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson had been asleep for several hours when they were awakened by suspicious noises.

This will be fun! To start with, I'll take Topic no.1.

One night, during a fierce thunderstorm, all of the lights went out in town. Then, some gangs appeared in the dark. They were all armed. Tomy, the head of the gang, told his man to break down houses in town. Some of the gangs started to bang on the wall with huge hammers, and lighted a fire. The others guarded their man with guns and rifles. Suddenly, one man shouted to stop at the end of the road. He ran into gangs really fast, and started to beat them up. But there were too many of them. The man was still struggling to resist the gang's attack. The man finally fell down on the road, and was tied up to the telegraph pole. Tomy walked toward the man, and stopped. He looked down on the man with a wicked smile. and said, "Good to see you again, John."

Who wants to take the next paragraph? : )

Zatoichi

Zatoichi(2003) directed by Takeshi Kitano

* Type
- Comic Action
* Stars
- Takeshi Kitano, Tadanobu Asano, Yûko Daike, Akira Emoto, Taka Gatarukanaru
* Film Company
- Office Kitano, Bandai Visual Company Ltd., Saitô Entertainment
* Plot Summary (Story)
- Zatoichi (Kitano) is wandering a remote mountain area. Helping an old woman, he gets shelter for the night and learns, that the town is terrorized by gangs - especially the Ginzo gang. Meanwhile the ronin Hattori (Asano) seeks employment as a bodyguard, to be able to buy medicine for his sick wife, and gets hired by Ginzo, who with a ronin by his side, now begin to wipe out his enemies.

Zatoichi doesn’t get involved. Instead he spends his pastime playing dice (odd even). Here he meets the nephew of the old woman he stays at. Together they win a small fortune and decide to spend the night in the company of two geisha. But they are not ordinary geisha: Okino (Daike) and her cross dressing brother (Tachibana) are assassins, who have spend most of their life tracking down those behind the killing of their family.

Soon it becomes impossible for Zatoichi to stay uninvolved and he has to step up and put an end to the terror. The outcome is bloody.
* Special effects/Computer Graphics
- The blood in the film has been described by many as being "too CGI". Kitano did this intentionally, wanting to "soften the shock to the audience" due to the high body count. Kitano told the CGI artist he wanted the blood to "look like flowers blossoming across the screen."
* Other Information
- The end dance sequence is a tribute to many of the popular Japanese films, in which the Hollywood-style happy ending was followed by a sudden "burst into song". He wanted to attempt this, but in a different type of way. Kitano combined traditional Kabuki theatre clog-dancing with "the latest African-American tap style".

Kitano said that he wanted the fights to be as realistic as possible, but that he wanted the blood to be extremely exaggerated.12) Reason for Choosing This Movie
* Reason for Choosing This Movie
- This movie was on the list of the Busan International Movie Festival(2003). I went down to see that movie with my friends, and I felt this movie was really funny and showed Kitano Takeshi's style. I was a big fan of Kitano Takeshi's evey movie at that time. Especially, the action scene and clog-dance was really impressive. As a remembarance, I would like to share this movie with all the students in this class.

Sony PSP

Sony PSP is a portable game platform. It's amazingly small, cute looking, and has lots of functions; for example, 32 MB main memory, 4 MB DRAM, stereo speaker, 480*272 pixel, 4.3 inch LCD screen, and its own PSP CPU. Expecially, I like its beautifl design. It just look like small computer. We may see a lot of people playing games with PSP on the street soon.

If Thou Must Love Me - Elizabeth Browning

If thou must love me, let it be for nought

Except for love's sake only. Do not say

I love her for her smile.. her look.. her way

Of speaking gently, for a trick of thought

That falls in well with mine, and certes brought

A sense of pleasant ease on such a day"

For these things in themselves, Beloved, may

Be changed, or change for thee, and love, so wrought,

May be unwrought so. Neither love me for

Thine own dear pity's wiping my cheeks dry,

A creature might forget to weep, who bore

Thy comfort long, and lose thy love thereby!

But love me for love's sake, that evermore

Thou may'st love on, through love's eternity.

The Ultimate Life Change

'Trading Spouses' broadcasting by Fox TV has recently broadcasted on Korea Cable TV. Families exchange one of their spouses, Dad or Mom has to live in completely different family for a week. Then, the spouse will have to decide where 50,000 dollars to be spent. The result sometimes come out to be good, or sometimes not. I think it's one of the most interesting programs. As far as I know, there's no such a program in Korea. If I were a producer, I would make that sort of programs. People will notice how much it is different to live in other families. They may appreciate their spouses and other family members, or they may find a strong relationship with other family by having a chance to live together.
The program has at least two benefits. It's fun, and provides viewers with a chance to tak a look into other family's life. Why don't Korea TV stations make similar program just like this?

The Pride Debate

Lee Gun Hee, CEO of Samsung, recently received an honorary degree from Korea University. However some of the students had resisted physically for Lee Gun Hee to receive it. Why? Because those students thought he paid for it, not studied to get it. After the ceremony was over, the president of the Korea University announced an apology statement about the students resistance, and some of the professors and related people resigned. Well, why these people quit their jobs? Are they scared of Lee Gun Hee's economic power? Was it really necessary? It's somewhat awkward, because I don't see any relation between the professor's resignation and Lee Gun Hee's honorary degree ceremony.

What is going on?

What is MOO?

http://schmooze.hunter.cuny.edu/

According to this

MOOs(Mud, Object Oriented) are online environments that grew out of text-based shared role playing games. They generally allow people to interact in real time in a virtual environment, where it is possible to create your environment--rooms, objects, and descriptions of characters.

Similar to a MUD, but the enabling software is written in an object-oriented manner, and generally focused more on programming than on games.

Yes, that's right! You can creat your own world on the web. The link I posted is one of the famous online university. You can go to the bar to order drinks. You also can go to library to read books, walk around the POD garden, watch TV in the Advanced Works Department. Just try, and you will realize that schmooze online university is alot better than the universities in the real world.

Longevity game

Try this before read,
http://www.nmfn.com/tn/learnctr--lifeevents--longevity

Living longer may be the most sensitive issue throughout the country. People are having a better quality of life than ever since. Not to mention the importance, however, I am pretty satisfied with my expected age 72, which is considered to be shorter than the average. I do smoke, often drink heavily, and even don't have a regular exercise. As there are no one who died from a certain genetic disease in my family, I am kind of insensible to the health.

Well, can I say 'used to be insensible'? After figuring out the expected age, I'm starting to care for my health. As I mentioned, I have several problems that should be stopped if I want to live longer. Smoking, Drinking, and Taking exercise are the priority for me to take care. I started so-called 'Self-modification' program. It's pretty easy to say it, however, the procedure is challenging me. To start with, I have to establish a behaviroal goal. In this case, it will be to reduce daily smoking, drinking moderately, and doing exercise on a regular base. Second procedure is to establish a baseline which means to measure the frequency of how often I usally do certain behaviors to be fixed. I usually smoke half pack of cigarette, drink and do exercise twice a week. Then, by setting up a weekly plan, through measuring how many times I keep my words, I must give myself awards so that I can keep up my plan. Hopefully, after this self-modification, who knows I may live longer than any others! :-)
